BlessUP Turning Pro Tuesday, business soul friends!
“To feel ambition and to act upon it is to embrace the unique calling of our souls. Not to act upon that ambition is to turn our backs on ourselves and on the reason for our existence.”- Stephen Pressfield, Turning Pro
We all have aspirations that we hold deep in our hearts. A vision of a higher self that we want to pursue and achieve. However, there is often fear, or resistance that makes us susceptible to distractions and self-sabotage.
In the audiobook, Turning Pro, Steven Pressfield speaks about the struggle of this resistance and the distinction between an amateur and a professional in dealing with this struggle.
An amateur pursues a path with no real risks or consequences. They are afraid of being judged or rejected that’s why they tend to replace ambition with a life addicted to distractions and comfort. Instead of pursuing their lifelong dreams, they seek instant gratification so they settle for what is easy and convenient. An amateur life is safe, but it’s not meaningful. It’s not performing to the best version of ourselves. It stops us from committing to the important work of our lives.
Turning pro, on the other hand, is when you finally decide to turn and face your true calling. It’s when you finally stop running from your fears and instead, act in the face of your fears. You enter the pain zone of effort that is expected from a professional. It’s the commitment to doing the hard work.
The beauty of turning toward your true calling is it doesn’t matter if you are not good at first. What matters is you are finally taking the step towards the path of kaizening and achieving new levels of mastery of the craft you’re deeply passionate about. Because turning pro is about committing to a lifelong pursuit of one’s full potential.
Until I SEE YOU again,
Turn yourself into a pro by re-committing daily to your lifelong goals and aspirations. Act toward your vision not later or tomorrow, but now.
BlessUP 🙏
