BlessUP “Focus” Monday, business soul friends!
Mastering the art of focus and learning to avoid distractions is essential for achieving success in both our personal and professional lives. When we master how to focus on our tasks during work, we can do our job efficiently with less to ZERO mistakes.
Sometimes tasks falter, leading to failures. Rushing is often the culprit. We must look within and realize when “Focus” is lacking in our work. The common root cause identified in these losses is rushing a task to completion. When we want to overcome these task failures, we really need to go within and acknowledge that “Focus” may have not been present when we worked on our outputs.
Why were we rushing? We did not have enough time?
Why did we not have enough time? We’re our minds elsewhere? Were we switching tasks? Were we distracted? How can we remove the distractions? It is our responsibility to create our work environment away from distractions both mentally and through our mini Gemba setup.
The Myth of Multitasking teaches us that switch-tasking leads to decreased productivity and increased stress. To be productive in completing our tasks without too much mental exhaustion, we need to do something to achieve a working environment that best works for us.
Example:
- Plan our To-do’s at least one shift ahead.
- In our to-do list, there should be a blocked time so we can laser focus. When we are focusing on completing a task within a specific period of time, we can complete our tasks faster, and we can proceed with the next task.
- In our blocked time, avoid checking Hey! and checking other stuff that is not relevant to the task that you are working on within a specific period of time. #EatThatFrog
- Ensure that we have a tidy workstation that is away from the distractions of the family.
Plan your day and have a checklist of what you need to do on a specific blocked time to do the specific task, and say NO to everything. When it’s game time, laser focus on WOW delivery for the company’s WHY and clients. You can attend to your other responsibilities outside work hours.
Until I SEE YOU again,
If you do not separate yourself from distractions, your distractions will separate you from your goals. Stay focused!
BlessUP 🙏
