Distractions undermine results. When we try to do too much at once, we might do nothing well. It’s an effective way if we want to get less done as we really can’t focus on two things at once. We must figure out what matters most at the moment and give our undivided attention to it.
Extraordinary results require focused attention and time. Most of our tasks are highly cognitive in nature. Deep uninterrupted concentration is required to deliver outstanding results. Whether you are writing a user story, writing back to a client, doing quality testing, investigating a challenge, designing, or coding, we could all benefit from exercising deep work.
Eliminating distractions in our lives and practicing deep work can be challenging. Focus does not just happen. It requires discipline to stay focused. When we allow ourselves to get distracted, it’s often our way to avoid the discomfort of doing the hard work.
