Kaizen Thought: Be open and relentless in their pursuit of better solutions
“Nothing is more dangerous than an idea if it’s the only one you have.” – Emil Auguste Chartier
Fixating on a single idea limits growth and innovation. When we cling to an idea as the ultimate solution, we become stuck in a mental prison. We will be resistant to change, and vulnerable to failure.
It’s similar to being stuck in a tunnel seeing only one way in and one way out. We limit our options, and dedicate ourselves to only pursuing the light we see ahead. We charge head on without thinking, and without looking back.
With the upcoming 10x changes that we’ll adapt we may find ourselves asking;
“Why would we have to change something that we’ve already used before?”
Let us remember that moving forward does not always mean moving in the right direction. The light could be a trap, a cliff—and before we know it, it becomes too late to go back.
Sometimes, stepping back and exploring other possibilities lead to better solutions.
Movement does not always equate to progress. We should be willing to explore, adapt, and evolve. Let’s not be idea-holders who only cling to what’s familiar.
Strive to be Idea Expanders, open and relentless in our pursuit of better solutions.
