Life, at its very nature, has its own way of telling us “you need to up your game and stretch yourself.“ We live in a bubble where we believe that giving in to our unhealthy and lazy routine, getting up late, clocking in for work unprepared, delivering incomplete tasks, and communicating without attention to detail are the only things that devalue our work. But you know what makes it all worse? It’s when we no longer see purpose in the work that we do. We become so disconnected and unmotivated because of one hard truth: we’re no longer expanding. We no longer allow ourselves to discover opportunities outside what the world has made available to us.
Are we the ones to blame? Definitely YES. The choice to continually improve is on us. ALL ON US. It’s either we choose to stretch and improve or we stay stagnant and let our souls run dry. This lesson is what our core value KAIZEN (Continuous and never-ending improvement) teaches us. It takes a whole lot of dedication, focus, passion, and commitment to keep our ship go sailing. We must never let hurdles in life keep us from pursuing things that will make us grow—our skills, our knowledge, and our capabilities.
No need to sugarcoat things. Aiming for a BETTER you and a constant and never-ending improvement may bring us setbacks, stops and starts, uncertainties, and even heartbreaks. But we must always remember that we are bigger than all of life’s negativity. We must use our experiences to shape our paradigm that life is not a race, it never was. Even choosing to continually grow in one part of our life one step per day will lead us to a total of 365 steps further from where we started.
Thoughts to ponder: It’s not about what circumstance we are in. It’s about what we do in those circumstances.
