BlessUPΒ No DistractionsΒ Friday, business soul friends!
Don’t underestimate the power of a clean, quiet, and organized workstation. There is a principle that is common among the most successful people: outer order, inner calm.
The ability to think well and work well does not simply start in the mind but in one’s environment. Think about it, when are you at your best mentally and creatively? When are you able to build momentum and deliver results? It’s surely not when there are people talking, children running around, or vehicles passing by. It’s not in a room filled with paperwork, half-empty cups, and unswept floors either, nor is it with an inbox that overflows and in a device that constantly pings.
There is zero inspiration to get something done when the place and situation you are in itself is in chaos. You get your performance to the peak levels of quality and quantity when your surroundings are clean, when there’s peace and quiet, and when everything around you is in order.
You see, the space where our great work is done is holy. It’s where we hone our skills, expand our knowledge, and make ourselves more valuable so we can earn and improve our life. We spend a big portion of our time in our workspaces planning our future and building our dreams. It must be a sanctuary for our gifts, where we are left to be at our best and feel motivated to produce only the best with no distractions, nothing random, nothing spilling onto anything else, and nothing getting in our way or slowing us down.
Once our external system is in place, inner order starts. Then and only then are we able to truly let loose and turn ourselves over to creativity and innovation. Only then deep work starts and we develop the readiness to push ourselves past our limits and exceed what we’ve achieved before.
Listen to Sir Les Brown’s golden message below and be reminded that our time and attention are our most valuable currency. We must save them for the things that matter and protect them from anything that does not bring us closer to our goals.
Until I SEE YOU again,
Your workspace is an externalization of your mind and being.
Maintain it, invest in it, and make sure it sets you up to win.
BlessUP! π
