“The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.” ― Albert Einstein.
We face all sorts of problems daily. Sometimes, we get stuck on an issue and need help finding a solution. The longer we stare at a problem that does not seem to have a solution, the more frustrated we get. When we get stuck in this way, more often than not, it’s because we need more problem-solving skills. But we have stared at the problem through the same lens for too long.
So, how do we come up with new solutions? We need to think differently and shift our paradigms to a different point of view. This shift requires us to elevate our thinking to a higher level, breaking free from our current mindset’s constraints. It means looking at the problem from different angles. The more perspectives you have, the better because, from each perspective, you learn new insights that will help you solve the problem.
When we identify our Kaizen for every challenge, we must view the challenge as more than just an error that needs fixing. We also need to look at the bigger picture, detach ourselves from the situation, and see opportunities for improvement as we look at things above the clouds. It also helps to put ourselves in our client’s shoes to understand and empathize more with their pain and frustration. By shifting our perspective, the challenge not only gets resolved but also helps us prevent from making the same mistakes again.
Here’s a parable about a group of blind men who failed to take in the elephant because of their limited perspective.
