BlessUP Lifelong Kaizen Friday, business soul friends!
“A blade does not become strong, it does not become tempered until it has been through the fire.”
Fire is a necessary step in the process of forging a strong and durable weapon. The intense heat of the fire is required to shape and refine the blade, removing impurities and strengthening the metal. Without the extreme heat treatment, the blade will be weak and prone to breaking in the rigors of use.
Likewise, the obstacles and difficulties encountered in life can be compared to the “fire” that shapes us into more robust and adaptable people. Just as the blade is strengthened through the intense heat of the forge, we can progress and evolve through the struggles and hardships we go through. These challenges can help us to build strength, resilience, and character, ultimately making us better equipped to handle life’s obstacles and adversity.
We may grow in age and mature in experience, but life will continue to put us through extreme fires to bring out our hidden potential and make us realize how much sharper we can still be. So don’t expect to be fully forged at 25 or 40. Don’t expect the hammering to stop in your second year or third year at work. Business magnates Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Elon Musk are, for sure, not spared from life’s fires too despite being billionaires and dominating the tech industry for a long time.
No matter how much time we’ve spent in this lifetime, no matter how much we’ve accomplished, we will never reach a point where we’re completely refined. Take it from Sir Dewayne Noel who reminds us in the video below that life is a never-ending transformation:
It’s daunting as we look ahead and realize there is still so much that we must go through. But it is also inspiring because it means we will never stop progressing. We uncover a better version of ourselves each time.
Just learn to embrace the growth process. Kaizen even if it’s uncomfortable, even if it’s painful. Don’t stop now because life is inherently difficult. Wherever you are and whatever you do, challenges will keep coming. The key is to slay as they come and gain the strength and capacity to overcome new and greater challenges in the future.
Until I SEE YOU again,
Appreciate the beauty of all realities even the hardest ones. As Sir Ray Dalio taught us in Principles: Evolving is life’s greatest accomplishment and greatest reward.
Our divine design is change.
