BlessUP Discipline Friday, business soul friends!
Our body is our glory, our hazard, and our care. It’s a vessel lent to us to live life and experience the beauty and abundance there is in this universe. The responsibility is ours to wrest and win control over our bodies every day. To grow and maintain it in its healthiest form. To master it and bring it to its full potential. To slow down its decline as we age or get sick.
What we must understand is that the body is a metaphor. It’s a training ground, a proving ground for the mind and the soul. As we build muscle, we build our mental fortitude and willpower. As we train to push through physical discomfort, we train ourselves to be resilient to mental, emotional, and spiritual storms. We dominate our physical selves, we dominate our internal well-being.
This goes to say that discipline is a virtue required for us to survive and it must be applied first and foremost to our body for without it, we cease to exist. Our mind regulates the body but without physical strength and fortitude, everything else becomes a burden just as Sir Sly reminds us below.
Health is wealth. Without it, I don’t care how much money you have, or what you’ve accomplished in life. If you don’t feel good about yourself, if you don’t feel good about taking on challenges and if you don’t feel good inside, it’s not worth it.”
Discipline takes us very far. When we treat the body rigorously, it stays obedient to our thoughts and goals. It does not overrun and override the mind. So if greatness is our aim, if we want to be productive and successful, and if we want to be the best in whatever we do, the first step is to take care of our health. To treat our bodies well, moderate our desires, exercise daily, and stop eating sugar! Fuel thy body accordingly like a high-end race car whether it’s in the gym or in the kitchen so that we can move with speed, actualize our potential, and live life to the fullest. These activities, albeit strenuous, are not punishments. These are simply work for which abundance is the reward.
Sir Jocko says discipline = freedom. Right on! Discipline is not deprivation. It’s not the rejection of pleasures, but a path to independence, a path for us to enjoy more. We must rule over our bodies so we can indeed be free to move, free to show up, free to take action, free to go all the way, and free to chase our business soul dreams whenever, wherever we want to.
Life, with all of its uncertainties, is short. We must work hard and earn as many extra days as we can while we’re strong, while we’re fresh, while we can. We all owe it to ourselves, to our goals, our families, and our future selves to keep going, to keep pushing. To be tough. To conquer our bodies before they conquer us.
Until I SEE YOU again,
Your body is yours.
Love it, respect it, and protect it.
Be in CONTROL and FREE!
